Our centres of innovation
Explore WestTech London
WestTech London is anchored by four major research and innovation clusters, connecting a network of science, research and healthcare locations across West London.
Albertopolis (South Kensington)
Albertopolis is the original innovation district. It has been at the heart of London’s cultural and scientific progress for more than 150 years. Today, it sits at the intersection of science, discovery, education and engagement. It is the home of Imperial College London, the world-leading STEMB university, and the location of its main campus where most undergraduate and postgraduate activity takes place. Albertopolis also includes many of London’s leading cultural and scientific institutions, museums and galleries including V&A South Kensington, the Science Museum, Royal Albert Hall and Natural History Museum. Together they are inspiring discovery and nurturing talent and for generations to come.
Old Oak Innovation Cluster
Old Oak Innovation Cluster is establishing itself as a new district where innovation-led regeneration will create unparalleled opportunities for cutting edge science and deep tech businesses. Imperial College London’s ambitious plans in Old Oak include the creation of new lab, office and manufacturing spaces for frontier innovation businesses, as well as new homes and amenities. Old Oak Innovation Cluster is part of the Old Oak and Park Royal Opportunity Area, one of the UK’s most important and exciting regeneration projects, led by the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC). The Old Oak and Park Royal Opportunity Area will include landmark housing, infrastructure and commercial developments, including the new Old Oak Common station which will deliver unrivalled connectivity to central London and other major UK cities.
Paddington Life Sciences
Paddington Life Sciences is connecting communities, researchers and industry to bring health innovation to life. Spanning three million square feet in Paddington, this thriving life sciences complex includes St Mary’s Hospital and flexible, cross-functional commercial and lab space to enable life sciences businesses to start, develop and grow. Co-locating commercial and academic teams within new, specialist life sciences facilities will accelerate bringing new treatments to patients as well as creating opportunities to take part in clinical research trials for local, national and global benefit. Paddington Life Sciences is powered by an influential partnership group which includes NHS, industry, community and academic institutions including Imperial College London.
White City Innovation District
Created through a first-of-its-kind partnership between Imperial College London and the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, White City Innovation District is London’s leading deep tech cluster and is underpinned by the Borough’s next-phase industrial strategy, Upstream London. With space to live, work and study, here is where academics and businesses come together to address today’s challenges for tomorrow’s world.
